The Vel Sal are a band of creatures, bound together to bring or keep Halnor in Winter. Led by the gods of evil, the Vel Sal’s symbol is that of the waning moon. They fight to keep their power over Halnor, and appease their evil deities. Those that are leaders in the Vel Sal wear a ring or amulet that bears the moon, and those that serve these leaders are branded with this symbol.
During the Fall, the Vel Sal are the cruel axe that cuts off the noble head of the ignorant virtuous citizens. They put their differences aside to focus on the goal of conquering Halnor, and do so with incredible ferocity and savageness. Cities are burned, towns are massacred, kings and nobles are relieved of their rule, or corrupted to act as a puppet of those in Vel Sal. These creatures are organized and ruthless.
The Vel Sal are celebrated heroes amongst their kind. Those that have evil in their hearts strive to be one of Vel Sal. Alas, these warriors are not without grief. During the Winter, many Vel Sal creatures are assassinated by those that walk the path of good. So proud of their status, the Vel Sal are easily recognized, and easier to approach. Many are too arrogant to realize they might not be able to defend themselves. Their assassins are almost always put to death very quickly when caught, though.
